Love this car seat!

Review by Kim Foley, 2009-12-15

We bought the Recaro in Blush for our daughter. Fits perfectly in our Subaru WRX. Looks great. Heavy but no more than the Britax Marathon we have in our other car. Only bad thing about this car seat is that it's so comfy she instantly falls asleep, even on short drives!

One word summary: STURDY!!!

Review by Rachel, 2009-05-11

I spent a lot of time pouring over car seat reviews & dimensions and poking around on them in the stores trying to find the best for my 6 month old who became too tall for her infant seat. Although Amazon had some great deals, I got a Recaro Como for about half price at albeebaby.com. If I had to sum it up in one word: STURDY! It is quite large, but the construction is the best I've seen. It fits okay rear-facing in my small Kia Spectra5, but creates a large blind spot, which should be corrected with the installation of a small convex mirror. (In my husband's Toyota Yaris 4-door, however, there was not enough room left in the doorframe to get her in & out. He bought a Graco ComfortSport, which works very well in that compact car, and seems to suit my daughther well.)

My daughter loves the Recaro! It sits higher, so she can see out the window instead of just staring at the backseat. I think another reviewer said their baby sits "in" the seat instead of "on" it, which is true...and I, too, feel a lot safer that way. The sides are so deep, she is unable to turn around and see me (unlike my husband's Graco) but safety first, right? I also like that it provides 5-point harness protection (also safer) up to 70 pounds, instead of 40 like most car seats.

The fabric and padding are so plush & comfortable, she falls asleep EVERY time we go somewhere! I had to remove the extra pillow headrest because it was too bulky for her head to fit, but no big deal.

The Recaro took less than 10 minutes and was super-easy to install(my car has the LATCH system). Getting the back off was a little tricky...I recommend pushing a flat-head screwdriver through the strap slots on the front. A little bit of rolled-up towel was needed to level it, which her infant seat also required. Overall a wonderful purchase that will last my daughter for many years to come!

worst seat! very dangerous avoid at all costs!

Review by L. Fox, 2009-03-31

This seat i got about 6 months ago, recently i was turning a corner and the safety anchor tether came undone, the latch broke and the seat flipped over on its side with my 2 year old in it almost upside down, she slammed her head on my 1 year olds car seat! she was screaming hysterically and had a massive bruise on her head. When i went to inspect what happened i saw the latch would not close, i contacted the company and they have ignored my every attempt! this is a dangerous seat which should be recalled! since the company does not respond to coments, complaints etc and the seat is a danger i am posting this review. i purchased another seat for my daughter which works beautifully and cost less than half what the recaro does, plus it looks nicer.

SAFE AND SECURE!

Review by J. Leander, 2009-03-23

We decided on the Recaro after 4 months of comparing car seats. This is almost perfect for us. It has one of the best safety rating available and my daughter is very comfortable in this seat. We have it rear facing in our 07 Seebring. It is a little large but what seat isn't? I like it a lot better then the Britax. It is more comfortable for our baby then the britax, which we have in my husbands car. This is a great seat listed for a great price! I found Amazon has the best price for this seat. Look no further this seat is great!

So impressed with this seat!

Review by Lauren, 2009-03-19

I bought this Recaro Como two months ago and have not stopped loving it. I spent so many hours reading reviews and looking at car seats before I decided on this one. I am listing the Pros and Cons of this car seat from my perspective:

Pros:

-The seat truly has side impact protection. It is much deeper than the Britax seats and the wings come around to protect the child. They make it with a heavy duty plastic that does not move much when you pull it back and forth. When you do this with other car seats, you will be amazed at how flimsy they are.

-The microfiber covering is so soft and wonderful. Plus, it is very easy to take off and clean.

-This seat offers a lot more padding and comfort than other seats. It has an adjustable head rest that will adjust with your child. This allows for maximum comfort and prevents "floppy" heads.

-This seat is very solid and built very well. It is a tall seat but I see that as an advantage because it will be able to withstand more impact. When you install this seat, it does not move AT ALL which is a huge bonus in my eyes. The carseat I had previously moved a lot and seemed to be just barely hanging on. The Recaro Como installs easily with both LATCH and the seat belt. Also, although it is a tall seat it is relatively compact.

-The harness weight can hold 70 lbs!

-The carseat comes with extra padded shoulder pads and even a pad over the crotch area for extra comfort.

-The harness is a five point latch system which is easily adjusted to grow with your child. It also has a recline position for rear facing travel.

-It has a thick layer of impact resistant EPS foam instead of EPP.

Cons:

-The straps do tend to get twisted around easily.

-It is a tall seat so it can be hard to see around. However, I have a small Subaru Impreza and it fits fine in my car.

Overall, I love this seat and am very impressed with its safety features.
